“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” -Audrey Hepburn
In just a couple of days, it will officially be summer! As the warmest season of the year, when the days are longer and plants are in abundance, every bloom is a symbol of growth and promise.
This is one of my favorite times of the year when there are so many fresh fruits and vegetables, you can feel the nutritious benefits of all the vitamins and minerals. It’s the one time of year where it seems ok to take a break from our normal fast-paced lives and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. “Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability,” the philosopher Sam Keen wrote. We take vacations, spend time outdoors, and get together with family and friends. Everything is colorful, vibrant and inviting.
I am filled with a new sense of energy, inspired by the feeling that anything is possible. It’s the season that reminds us to come alive. We are awake, engaged and open to opportunity. It becomes a state of mind where the experiences we have become a part of our deepest memories and we share a collective consciousness.
I encourage you to submerge yourself in this wonderfully lively time, in a season of activity, celebration and reflection. Dance under the sprinklers, watch a sunset, go on a long bike ride or hike, swim and give into the gravitational force of all things summer.
ps. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads.
