“To exist is to change, to change to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” -Henri Bergson
I was watching the sunset the other day and thought how incredible it is that one day ends, and never returns, only to bring the promise of a new day tomorrow. And everything changes, just like that. A new sky, a new opportunity, a new chance to break through barriers and a fresh canvas of starting over.
Many people are not comfortable with change – probably because it comes with the idea of the unknown, which is often accompanied by fear. However, there is so much good that can come from change. Even as simple as changing your morning routine or going to a different town or even finding something new to do on a weekend can have an incredible impact on your perspective. Sometimes we get so used to our everyday, we forget how much there is out there to explore.
The excitement of a new routine, new environment or meeting new people can give you a renewed zest for life. This can be as simple as driving a different way to work or stopping at that cute cafe you’ve passed multiple times and thought you should really try it one day.
Getting out of your comfort zone can be good for your mental health. It is why vacations are so beneficial – it helps you escape the norm and experience unique surroundings. It creates a sense of exploration and freedom that we often do not spend enough time pursuing. I have dedicated this month to opening my eyes to new experiences and opportunities that I hope to inspire and energize my days.
I encourage you to take in your surroundings, find the new in your day and try something different. Maybe we will surprise ourselves.
